Industry News
Hardware Launch : PS Vita TV
Publisher Sony
Release Date TBC.
Sony’s annual pre TGS press conference is the last big event before the holiday season and once more Sony do not disappoint with lots more news including a brand new device, a remodeled PS vita and a release Date for the PS4 in Japan.
The PS4 will be out in Japan in February a solid three months after hitting the stores in the US and Europe. The Vita has got a new slimmer model with reduced size and weights but increased battery life. They have also swapped out the OLED screen for a LCD.
But the main news is the PS Vita TV as it is being called. This small device which measures in at around 10.5cm by 6.5cm will connect to your TV and has a host of cool features to connect your PlayStation (dare I say it) Eco System.
Here is what it can do:
– You can hook up two PS3 controllers, connect it to your TV and enjoy a host of games from your catalogue. It will play PSP, PS1 and PS Vita games (Vita games can be played via cartridge on the side).
– You will also be able to make use of its streaming feature to play your PS4 games on any TV in the house.
– You can also use it to stream movies from services such as Hulu or Netflix.
The devices has a price in Yen of 9,480 which is just over €70, with bundles also planned to include controllers and memory cards. We still have no time frame for a EU release but hope to get this before Christmas to make the most of our new PS4’s
