Prepare for an overload in cuteness and frustration as eye pet hits the PS3. A great concept in the evolution of pet care games. We have evolved from looking after little pixelated creatures in digital eggs through to looking after on screen dogs so naturally the next step would be to get involved yourself.  

Eye pet comes bundled with the PS3 eye cam which allows you to become part of the game. The initial set up can be a bit frustrating getting the camera set up correctly is fine but once the game starts you have to follow a set number of actions to get your egg to hatch. Because you are on screen with the egg but of course you don’t actually have anything in front of you in real life it takes a bit to get used to.  You get a magic card with the game essentially a black card with a reflective paint job. This acts as a marker and even an x-ray machine.

Getting your egg to hatch is the worst part you have to rock the egg from side to side but the camera cant pick up settle movements so you end up taking swipes at the little egg which would normally send it flying across the room and smashing off the wall but on screen just rocks it gently from side to side. Using the magic card places a heater next to the egg hitting the top of this gets it producing heat. Again another frustrating time here.  

But once you have your little buddy out of the egg the fun begins. This really shows off how good the eye cam can be waving your hand up high will get your little creature to jump and try to grab it. You can give him a little rub, feed him or push him over all by just moving your hands around the screen to interact with your furry friend.

Some great features like drawing an black outline allows eye pet to recreate it on screen and making it come alive simply by showing your drawing to the camera.

Some parts are really genius some parts are really frustrating. Once you can get past the sight of a thirty something year old man sitting on the floor waving his hands at imaginary creatures this game is great fun. Small kids while it may be a little bit advanced for them they will go berserk seeing themselves on screen interacting with the furry friend in real time.
