I have just finished Naughty dogs Uncharted 2 and I’m so disappointed. But its not the game that has left me disappointed. I’m disappointed that ill never get to play through Among thieves for the first time ever again. Pong, Asteroids, Mario, Metal gear solid all feel like they have been just building up to a gaming moment like this. That moment for me has now passed and the 10 or so hours it took me to play through the blockbuster from naughty dog have been the most enjoyable I have ever experienced on a console. I was simply blown away. Thegood news for UK and Irish readers is that with the release date set for tomorrow you have this to look forward to.   With this in mind I’m purposely not going to talk about the story line. Uncharted 2 is that enjoyable that I don’t want to ruin a single second of this experience for anyone else reading this. I don’t think I could start to talk about the story without rambling on and giving it all away. Uncharted 2 pretty much takes up from where the last one left off with Drake off on another adventure in search of a new treasure. But as always nothing goes quite to plan for our wise cracking hero. The game is split into 3 main modes.     The single player mode : Similar to the first game you take the role of loveable rogue Nathan Drake in a wild 3rd person action packed treasure hunt. It has the same mix of action and puzzles with big cinematic cut scenes but this time they all blend together into an amazing spectacle of colour and adrenalin pumping stunts.  Included from the first game, the much loved cover and combat systems which have been improved a lot, the same brilliant interaction with the environment again vastly improved, puzzles a plenty still as confusing and tons of brilliant voice work still just as funny. Missing from the game is the silly use of the six axis to keep Nate on beams the seemingly never ending spawning of enemies. The cover system can give the odd bit of trouble with Nate rolling out in front of the enemy when you want him to get in behind a corner. But for the most part Naughty Dog have created one of the best games ever made.

Online Co-op : This is a new feature and a very welcome one. It allows you and 2 other mates to team up over the internet and take on the challenge together. Nate, Sully and Chloe all are playable in this mode. It is quite similar to the story mode game play but with some added features to involve the other characters. In sections of the single player game where Nate jumps through a window are swapped out for a different approach where the 3 characters have to work together to create a different way over obstacles making a make shift ladder out of a book shelf for example. As good as the story mode is being able to share the experience with your friends makes this mode the most fun filled mode on the disk. Online Multiplayer :   5 v 5 online multiplayer battles are where this game will live forever. A good multiplayer can add months if not years to the life span of a game. Uncharted 2 has created a welcome break from the same old FPS death matches. Still in the usual 3rd person view you now take on other players. Using all the different levels available to climb up onto ledges or drop into basements to try and out smart the opponents. As well as the death matches they have included a few objective games. The treasure hunt involves your team working together to grab a treasure and carry it back to the chest in a way that isn’t too far removed from scoring a touchdown. The capture the flag game as also been tweaked in a good way rather than just having 3 flags that anyone can take at any time the flags are numbered 1 to 5 and you have to capture them in the order as you get closer to number 5 you get closer to the opponents spawn point so it get harder and harder to capture that fifth flag to win the game.   Over all I hope I haven’t given too much away as this is a must buy. I will be very surprised if there is a gamer alive that doesn’t really enjoy this game. Is it perfect ? maybe not but its as close as I think any game will get for a long long time to come.
