Interacting with the environment is a big part of the game but the controls and camera angles can make it quite fiddly at times sometimes a simple jump goes wrong because a change of camera angle results in Rubi turning at the last second and you jump off a cliff. Other times it’s quite difficult to tell where you are meant to be going, the camera angle doesn’t help here either. But for the most part she will interact well with her surroundings. The game sometimes slips from its free roaming 3D aspects to the on rails aspect which if you’re not expecting will get you killed. You will die a lot in this game and the reels spinning off the cogs and burning every time you die and the subsequent load times will drive you mad after a while.
What it does do right is the combat, it never gets old and will wield you some of the most stylish kills you will ever perform. Diving or slide across a room in slow motion with 360 degree shooting and blasting 3 or 4 enemies away is very satisfying.
Diving, Sliding & Wall running kicks in the slow motion (similar to the Max Payne games), you wield duel guns and can take out two targets at once during slow motion you aim the right gun and the other automatically locks onto another target.
This game is a good effort to do something that looks and feels a bit different. It does always feel like a game that just didn’t get the budget behind it that the concept deserved. In parts you will be delighted with it as it is a lot fo fun but all too quickly you will meet one of the frustrating parts that just take the shine of and already shaky game.
Worth a rent for the combat alone but it’s not a game I could recommend you buying unless you can pick it up on the cheap. |
