Find out what it takes to really be a part of HAWX. The game features intense dogfights, unbelievable scenery and an arcade-style air combat. Multiplayer is a bit limited and the planes may look awesome but they don't offer much variety. But forget this because this lives up to the tom Clancy franchise and will surprise many people.
The HAWK follows a squadron and its leader, major David Crenshaw. After your transferred to HAWX as the squadron leader you are disbanded by the us air force in 2014 following events in the ghost recon advanced war fighter games. The game starts with you trying to rescue captain Mitchell and the ghosts. After this you become part of Artemis a private military contractor that works for both corporations and the Brazilian government. Artemis starts to attack the us and Crenshaw has a change of heart and does what he does best defending the U.S from hostile enemy's, mostly Artemis. like most of Tom Clancy's games the games has a lot of great cut scenes and banter over the radio's.
HAWX is great pick up and play game and is fun in short stints, the controls are easy to learn and make the game a whole lot easier to play Especially to people who never played a arcade style air combat game. One great feature of HAWX is the assistance off mode this allows you to be in complete control of the plane and is great fun. With assistance off you can do sharper maneuvers but run the risk of stalling. With assistance off mode you also get a wider view of the landscape and this really shows of the true graphics of the game. HAWX game play is very fast paced and can get a little hectic at times, but you soon fell yourself getting drawn into the action. Each mission has great variety and each level is set in a famous city or place such as Paris or Washington etc.
HAWX is more an arcade style game than a simulation and this is what makes it its own as you get 100 missiles at the start of each mission. As you progress through the game you unlock a better arsenal of weapons at your disposal.
HAWX rewards you with a lot of planes such as the eurofighter and saabs. there is no shortage of variety in the game but as you unlock each plane the have different advantages and disadvantages but they arnt that noticeable apart from there speed.
With many missions in the game you are paired up with wingmen. these arnt your average ai as the actually kill the enemy and do what you want. One great option HAWX offers is four player co-op and this makes the campaign a hell of a lot more fun. This co-op is also drop in drop out so your friends can join you at anytime.
HAWX multiplayer is very fun and reward when you kill people as you have a sense that you're a real fighter pilot. When you string kills together you start to unlock special abilities such as emp blasts etc which is a nice touch as getting kills actually means something.
Overall HAWX is great with realistic environments and great graphics but lacks that something as the planes arnt that different to fly and you don't find yourself playing it for hours, but overall its fun and worth buying
