The Jameson First short Film competition is back for its forth year, in partnership with Kevin Spacy and Dana Brunetti of Trigger Street Productions. The competition gives budding film makers the chance of a life time to have their scripts turned into short films, and not just that but you will get the opportunity to direct Adrien Brody in the lead role and to have it all premiered in LA.
At the heart of the Jameson First Shot competition is the knowledge that for the wealth of filmmaking talent out there, getting a first shot in the industry is notoriously difficult. It is this insight that has compelled Oscar-winner Kevin Spacey and Trigger Street Production President/Producer, Dana Brunetti to champion the project since 2010
Spacey understands the importance of helping emerging artists with their first break, as he believes “it’s not about where someone is in terms of their talent or accomplishments when they begin, it’s about where they might get in 10 years if they are encouraged, nurtured and guided. If you’ve been successful at the career you wanted to have, it’s your obligation to spend a good portion of your time sending the elevator back down.”
Adrien Brody will play the lead role in this year’s winning films allowing budding stars to work with a Hollywood great and under the guidance of Spacy and Brunetti it is sure to get their career off to the great start. His own journey from unknown actor to Oscar-winner was far from easy, making him a natural match for the competition. ‘Jameson First Shot affords talented writer/directors an important gift’ affirms Brody, ‘the confidence to exercise fearlessness and the opportunity to materialise their dreams’.
Such was the overwhelming response to last year’s competition; Jameson is expanding its catchment area to give more unearthed talent the chance to enter their work. Entrants living in the UK, Ireland, India, Australia and Canada, in addition to SA, Russia and the US, are now eligible to enter
To enter: Simply write an original piece of work, with the final draft being no more than seven pages in lenght. The story should reveal, with lightness of touch, the epic that is to be found in everyday experiences. The closing date is the 1st of February 2015.
